Glycerin Soap Melting If you missed the page that shows how to melt and work with glycerin soap you should read that page first. To go to that page click here. It will open in a new window so you will not lose this page.
Layering
You can easily layer different colors with glycerin soap. Just fill your mold part way and then let harden part way. To speed this up you can place the soap in the freezer for 5 minutes. When the soap has a hard skin just spray the top with the rubbing alcohol and spread it over the soap with your fingers. Then you can add the next layer. You can make a lot of pretty striped soaps at one time if you do layers in a bread pan and then slice it into bars.
Filled Soaps
Glycerin soap can also be made special by putting different things inside. You just use the same method as when you layer colors but you add in objects. Make sure you spray the soap and the objects with the rubbing alcohol to prevent bubbles. You will get a better soap in the end if you make it in three layers. The first layer is just soap. The second layer should be deep enough to cover the object about 3/4 of the way up. It is easier to make sure that the object stays in the right place if you are able to still touch the top of the object until it hardens enough to hold it still. Then spray the soap and object again with rubbing alcohol and fill the mold the rest of the way to cover the object.
*NOTE - Please remember to not use anything that has a point. When the soap gets used down to that point it could hurt someone.
Ideas
You can add all kinds of things to your soaps. Rubber ducks or fish in a light blue soap look great in bathrooms and help keep a smile on your face.
Kids Soaps
For kids you can add plastic toys, animals, bugs, and jewelry. This would be a great gift or party favor at a kids birthday party. It is also a great way to get kids to want to take a bath.
Adults
You can find things that will match or accent your bathroom. Take a trip to the craft store and look around for ideas. This is also a great way to use all those leftover craft supplies or thing that broke and you set aside thinking you could use it "someday" on something else.
