Snacks
We all know kids love snacks and the best are the ones
that you can have everything ready and on hand to
make fast when a snack attack hits. Here are some
quick snack recipes. Do not be afraid to think up ways
to change recipes. Experiment and have fun.

Dips

Kids love to dip things. You can get them to eat almost
anything if they can dip it. There are many different
kinds of dips for fruits and vegetables so they can
always have a variety.

Vegetable Dips

Ranch Dip is a favorite, but you can experiment with
others.
Mix a 16oz. container of lite sour cream with dry soup
mixes like tomato, vegetable or onion. Allow the dip to
blend over night or mix it up in the morning.

Cream Cheese Dip
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese with chives
1 (5 ounce) container sharp processed cheese food.

Be adventurous and pick up some hummus at the store
and see what the kids think. It is great for dipping
vegetables and/or Pita bread.

Fruit Dips

Any of these dips taste delicious with apples, pears,
bananas, peaches or berries.

Fruit Dip #1
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Fruit dip #2
Combine cream cheese and crushed pineapple to the
desired taste and consistency. This also tastes delicious
when made with canned mandarin oranges instead of
pineapple. Drain as much of the fruit juice as possible
to avoid a runny dip.

Fruit Dip # 3
Mix cream cheese, apple sauce a dash of cinnamon and
brown sugar. Keep in the refrigerator in an airtight
container.

Mini Pizza

English Muffin "Pizzas"

Children enjoy making this one themselves!
Spread Spaghetti sauce on English muffin halves.
Top with sliced olives, deli slices, vegetables and
grated mozzarella cheese. Heat in a toaster oven, or
microwave until the cheese is melted.

Cheesecake Snacks

It's amazing how much this snack tastes like
strawberry cheesecake. Spread cream cheese on the
graham cracker and top with strawberry jam. You can
have fun and experiment with this one too. If you
want to do part of it ahead of time mix the cream
cheese and jam together and put in it's own container.
Then it will be ready to go at a minutes notice and less
mess.
Try other flavors of jam and see what you like best.

Quesadillas & Tortilla Wraps

Kids just love wrapping things in tortillas. My kids will
wrap just about anything in a tortilla and think it is a
fun treat. It can even make lunch meat and hot dogs
seem exciting.

Quesadillas are a fast and easy snack. You can make
them with just cheese or add in whatever meat you
have on hand. This is also a great way to get rid of
leftovers! If you can handle it hot throw in some
peppers, salsa, or a dash of hot sauce. The sky is the
limit you can add just about anything.

When it comes to cooking them it depends on how old
the child who is making them is. My youngest kids just
make them on plates and them warm them in the
microwave. If my oldest is getting in on it she will cook
them in a pan on the stove. Then on to a plate and cut
with a pizza cutter. Everyone loves quesadillas but we
forget how fast and easy they can be to make at home.
