Edible Necklace

Super easy! get some licorice laces and lace on some
cereal. Fruit Loops make the most colorful necklaces. You
can also make a matching bracelet. This is also a great way
to teach younger kids about patterns.

Bread Painting

This one is super simple and kids of all ages can do it and
have fun. Just fill a few small cups with water and food
coloring and start painting some bread. Make sure to not
get the bread too wet and mushy. When you are all done
you can either toast the bread or let it air dry. Eat them
toasted with butter or make a sandwich. That boring lunch
meat or cheese sandwich is now a beautiful masterpiece
they made themselves.

Dirt Cups

This one can be made in little cups or in any large
container. We once even made this as a surprise in a
flower pot. Please remember two things if you want to
make it in a flower pot. First off make sure your flower pot
does not have drainage holes. Next make sure that your
pot and the fake flowers you put in it do not have any lead
or hazardous chemicals in them.

Now make some chocolate puddling and put it in the
container of your choice. When the pudding chilled and set
up put crushed Oreos on top. Now it is time to add some
gummy worms and maybe some gummy bugs.

Fried Worm Sandwich

Another simple one that kids love and it looks almost real.
Take some hot dogs and cut them long ways in half. Take
each half and cut into 3 or 4 thin strips. Then brown a little
in a pan. This can also be done in the microwave with very
good results if the kids want to make them on their own.
As they cook they start to get curly and puff up. Now
serve your fried worms in a big pile on a plate. The kids
can choose their own worms and make a sandwich. For a
twist on this you can leave 1/4 of the hot dog unsliced.
After they are cooked stand them up with the curly ends at
the bottom. Now you made an octopus. These are great to
set on top of a plate of mac & cheese.

Coffee Can Ice Cream

I know a lot of your are afraid to make homemade ice
cream because you think it is too hard to do. This is a way
to get the kids to do the dirt work and they think it is fun.

INGREDIENTS:
1 1-pound coffee can with lid
1 3-pound coffee can with lid
1 pint of half and half (milk can be used instead)
1 egg, beaten (optional)
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla, 2 tablespoons of chocolate
syrup, or 1/4 cup of strawberries

PREPARATION:
Add all of the above ingredients to the 1 pound coffee can;
mix well. Put the lid on the coffee can and secure with duct
tape. Place the 1 pound coffee can into the 3 pound coffee
can. Surround with crushed ice and rock salt and place the
lid onto the 3 pound coffee can.
Have your kids sit on the ground and roll back and forth 3
to 4 feet apart.

Roll for 8 to 10 minutes.
(The kids can kick the can back and forth as well.)
Check to see if the ice cream is hard; if it isn't, replace the
lid, add more ice and rock salt. Roll for another 8 mins.

Remove the lid to the 1 pound can and serve in bowls.
Serves 4-6 people.
